Blue Flower

There are a number of Anniversaries this year in relation to the War Effort of our Australian Service personal.  On the 18th of August we will be remembering 50 years of the Battle of Long Tan Vietnam.

At the Logan Village Museum we have been privileged to have the use of a collection of photographs taken during the Vietnam War, by a helicopter gunner.  These have been researched, documented  and reprinted so that they can be viewed by those interested in this aspect of our History.  We will be placing these in a booklet and releasing them for viewing on the 18th August.  At a further date a copy will also be forwarded to the Australian War Memorial, as is the wish of the donor.

It is important to recognise these times and remember the sacrifice made by many in the service of this wonderful country in which we live.

When looking at the Department of Veteran Affairs website it has been found that there are still  Applications for study bursaries,  for each academic year, which are  opened on Vietnam Veterans’ Day, 18 August, and close on 31 October. The Long Tan Bursary scheme is administered by the Australian Veterans’ Children Assistance Trust on behalf of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.
